This competition will put the ingenuity and innovation of the region’s top chefs to the test showcasing some of the finest Irish products on the market.
The finalists will showcase their 4 course menus at the Taste of Ireland Green Box Inaugural Gala Evening and you will be able to witness and enjoy the food creations at one of the finalist’s tables. The inaugural gala evening will be held on the 24th May at the Ibn Battuta Gate Hotel and will feature a performance from The Celtic Tenors.

We are very excited to announce our upcoming Music Quiz at the Irish Village.

This promises to be a night to remember for all of you quiz and music aficionados out there as ‘Quiz Maestro’ Dave Catanach hosts one of his legendary music quizzes.

All funds raised on the night will go to support 15 year old Lauren who is going to join her College trek from just outside Lhasa, Tibet to Everest Base camp in June. About 140km and over 5000 meters altitude at its highest point the trek will be quite a challenge for a 15 year old.

They will be raising funds for the Nepalese based Eco Farm and Orphanage, which they will be visiting and where they will be volunteering.

We hope to see you all there for a night of fun, frolics and seriously suspect quiz questions.

The Dubai Irish Society together with local and international sponsors has successfully entered a Rose from the UAE to the Rose of Tralee Festival every year since 1994.
This year the Rose of Dubai will be chosen at an event on the 27nd April. More information about the event and ticket sales will be available shortly on our website.
The Rose of Tralee International Festival celebrates modern young women in terms of their aspirations, ambitions, intellect, social responsibility and Irish heritage. The festival has connected the global Irish community since its inception in 1959 and it continues to draw strength from local communities throughout Ireland.

Applications for this year’s Rose can be submitted by completing the application form, found here and returning it to secretary@irishsocietydubai.com. All applications need to be submitted before 12 Noon, Friday, April 6th, 2012. Successful applicants will be notified on the 10th April, with interviews for the Rose of Dubai candidates being held on the Saturday 14th April 2012.
Every year more than 30 International Roses come to Tralee, supported by friends and family. The Festival comprises Rose Selection, family carnival, fashion show and live concerts, in addition to welcoming visitors and delegates from regions worldwide represented by each Rose.

The Regional Finals of the Rose of Tralee, also hosted by Dáithí Ó Sé, will take place in Portlaoise from May 30th to June 3rd 2012.
The Rose of Tralee International Festival will take place from 17th to 21st August 2012 and the new Rose will be crowned live on RTÉ One on Tuesday 21st August.
We look forward to welcoming you to the Rose of Dubai this year.

This year’s St. Patrick’s Day Ball will be held on March 16th in the Safinah Ballroom at Jumeirah Beach Hotel.

Live entertainment will keep you all swinging on the dance floor until the wee hours.

Tickets are now completely sold out. It promises to be a fantastic night out. Apologies to those who missed out on tickets.

A Massive Thank you to everyone who attended Santa in the Desert on Friday last. We had a lovely day and hope everyone enjoyed it as much as we did.

We had approximately 160 children who met with Santa in his Desert grotto and while the wait was long for some of you all of the boys and girls were very patient right to the end.

Particular thanks go out to Declan O’Sullivan, Paul McCabe, Caroline Bolger and our dig-out crew of Mark ‘Nobby’ Leonard, John Mitchell Ross, Tom Childs & Andrew Childs, who saved the day for many of us.
