This year’s St. Patrick’s Day Ball will be held on March 16th in the Safina Ballroom at Jumeira Beach Hotel.

Tickets are 500AED and include a sumptuous dinner and three hours of house beverages.

Live entertainment will keep you all swinging on the dance floor until the wee hours.

A Massive Thank you to everyone who attended Santa in the Desert on Friday last. We had a lovely day and hope everyone enjoyed it as much as we did.

We had approximately 160 children who met with Santa in his Desert grotto and while the wait was long for some of you all of the boys and girls were very patient right to the end.

Particular thanks go out to Declan O’Sullivan, Paul McCabe, Caroline Bolger and our dig-out crew of Mark ‘Nobby’ Leonard, John Mitchell Ross, Tom Childs & Andrew Childs, who saved the day for many of us.

Tomorrrow – December 9th 2011, 12pm – 7pm

We will be hosting one of our most popular events on December 9th, it will be held out near Bab al Shams resort, the location details are below.

This promises to be a fun day out for families and singles alike with Ceol agus Craic in the Desert.

Santa Claus will be arriving about 2pm and delivering presents to all of the kiddies.

Please bring a present clearly labelled with your child’s full name and age.

Bring a BBQ, a picnic, sunscreen and some shade. You’ll have to carry all of your stuff across dunes, so pack as light as you can.

Music by the campfire will be provided by Declan O’Sullivan, aka The Paddyman!

Costs: 100AED per car (Members), 120AED per car (non-Members).

• Exit the E311 (Emirates Road) at ARABIAN RANCHES / DUBAI AUTODROME. Take the exit for Al Qudra St (towards Bab Al Shams) and continue straight (past Arabian Ranches Polo Club)
• Go straight through the Dubai Bypass Road flyover.
• Continue for 21.7 Km until you reach the next roundabout. (Watch out for speed cameras)
• Take the second exit and travel 1.6 Km
• Take the first right and continue for 3.3 Km.
• For those with four wheel drives take a right turn and continue 200 m to Santa’s Grotto.
• For those with normal cars continue another 20 m and turn right on the hard road, parking 30 m off the road and walk the 100 m to the grotto.

Legendary Irish musician Sharon Shannon is renowned for embracing all musical genres and collaborating with many different artistes including U2, Sinead O Connor, Willie Nelson, Steve Earle Jackson Browne, Nigel Kennedy, Christy Moore to name a few.

She is the only traditional Irish musician to cross-over into mainstream pop/rock and have number one singles, albums and DVDs in the Irish pop charts. Her version of the Steve Earle penned The Galway Girl with Mundy on vocals was the biggest downloaded single in 2008 and 2009. She is a multi-platinum selling artiste and is the recipient of several Meteor Awards including being the youngest ever recipient of the Meteor Lifetime Achievement Award. Her music has been featured in several Hollywood movies, TV series and the award-winning Irish Bulmer’s TV commercial campaign.

She is currently finishing off a new album of original material recorded with the RTE Concert Orchestra and due for release in the New Year
In March 2012, she takes her big Band to all the major festivals in Australia and New Zealand including the Volvo Ocean Race leg on St Patrick’s Day in Auckland.

Sharon Shannon recently played at the inauguration of the ninth President of Ireland Mr. Michael D.Higgins in Dubln Castle. This was her second Presidential performance in less than six months having also performed at College Green, Dublin for President Obama in May 2011.

DIS Table Quiz in McGettigan’s
Monday Novembr 21st, 7pm

We are hosting a table quiz in McGettigan’s Irish Pub, Bonnington Hotel, JLT on Monday November 22nd at 7pm. This is part of McGettigan’s first birthday celebrations. Gather your friends and put your heads together as a table. We will also allocate smaller groups to a table if you prefer.

Costs: 50AED per person, tables of up to 6 people. McGettigan’s are kindly offering two free beverages with each entry and there also will be complimentary finger food.

On the night we will be auctioning four Season passes for the Emirates Rugby Sevens in aid of the Senses Residential Care Home Dubai. This is an amazing organisation who provide Fulltime Residencial Care, Respite Care and a Day Care facility for the Mentally and physically disabled. Please come prepared to dig deep and offer your support.
